Bonnie Thompson Norman Seattle, Washington
paper, book cloth, book board 13 x 6 x 7/16 closed; 13 x 47 open edition of 50 © 2010 This book was produced in a playful way about serious thoughts as a result of a collaboration in a class. The word play for the title is about the vital heartbeat we all have in common and about the sign posts we often encounter daily ... such as stop, listen, wait, caution, yield, walk. It is intended as a gentle reminder and inspiration for paying attention and reflecting on the Vital Signs in our lives. Letterpress printed in three colors from handset type and hand made tangram images, printed on a Vandercook SP 15. Hand bound hard cover cloth binding in a concertina format from individual pages. Bonnie Thompson Norman acquired her first press in 1978 and learned printing at The Woman’s Building, Los Angeles. Currently residing in Seattle, Bonnie works full-time as a hand bookbinder in a commercial bindery and teaches classes in printing and book making in her home studio, The Windowpane Press. |
